I'm a physician leader with two decades of public health and medical experience in local, state, federal, and international settings and now President and CEO of Unboxable Health Consulting LLC with clients such as the American Public Health Association. I'm double board-certified in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine
and in Family Medicine and recently served as the Deputy Director for Non-infectious Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for three years during the COVID-19 pandemic. I concluded ten years of service with the Florida Department of Health as State Surgeon General and Secretary after being appointed as a deputy secretary ad holding numerous positions in four local health departments.  Just prior to joining CDC, I was the Health Officer for Sonoma County, California during a period of unprecedented response efforts. I have worked in all aspects of public health and have led small teams and large agencies.  I'm a systems thinker with a successful record leveraging resources and partnerships to improve performance, quality and equitable health outcomes.
